Who wants to run in Sherwood?

Sherwood is hosting the Oregon's Run for the Roses races in June.  Not to be confused with the other Race for the Roses in April.  Registration for the  races in Sherwood open on January 1st, and, well, I will copy the text from their Facebook status:  Registration for Run for the Roses 1/2 Marathon, 10k and 5k begins on January 1, 2011. We are offering every fan of this page a $5 discount for registration into this years event if we can get up to 500 fans of this page by the end of day on January 2, 2011. Click the "suggest to friends" link on the left hand side and invite your friends to this page so that you and your friends will get the $5 discount

With the prices starting at $25 for the 5K, $35 for the 10K and $45 for the first ever Pikermi at the event, it is an economical race.  Prices include the t-shirt, so heck that is an even bigger bargain.  Plus, it is in my home town, and I get to walk to the start line!  If there are enough people that want to come and play, I may convince all the girls in my neighborhood to put together a cheering section for all of us, and these girls all get crafty and make banners and the like for little things, so this would be an EXTRA fun project for them.  It is six months away, and was a lot of fun last year, and should be again this year.  I am still waiting for the map to be posted for the Pikermi, so I can do a few practice runs, but there is plenty of time for that.

As for my runs either today or yesterday...not so much.  I need to get to bed before midnight if I expect to be able to get up at 4:00 and go for runs.

Dang it! I got Tagged

So I feel a mixture of "wow, really, you tagged me?" and "Wait, now *I* have to do this."  Thanks to Danny for tagging me, that has to be the best compliment I have gotten in a while.  It means that you actually read my blather and are telling others about it.  DANG.  Now I have to keep up.  Since I have today off, and the Mrs. is trying out the newly installed shower head, I have a few minutes to think about this.

Marathon Training began(ins)

Monday morning, it was VERY clear I had not gone for a run in a while, it took me a bit over 30 minutes to get ready to go out the door.  I swear to dog it took way longer to get ready to run than the shower shave and dress for work.  And I wasn't showering or shaving.  It's not like my stuff is all over the place either, everything is within 5 feet of everything else.  Ridiculous!  Mizumo tights, shorts over (cuz I'm a little bit bashful), my spiffy new Nike LS Thermal Tech shirt, my phone, ID, BellyBand, item said bellyband was purchased for, socks and my Nikes.  30 minutes to get ready.  CRAZY

Shhhh, don't tell anyone

But, I have officially slipped over the edge.  I did something today, just a few minutes ago in fact, that I used to swear I would never ever ever ever do.  Because the only people who do this are CRAZY.  The kind of crazy that requires straight-jackets, Thorazine and a long long visit with Nurse Ratched and Dr. Spivey.

This is for ALL of us (we know who we are)

This weekend was a bit crazy, but I did make it to the Nike Employee store and got some new kicks...  No I'm not bragging....well, OK, maybe a little...I got some Pegasus 27's and a pair of the Nike Run Free+ in all red.  They are way cool, and a trip to wear.  I had them on for a little bit last night and they make you feel like you need to be running.  Oh, darn.

Happy Friday! I think

I would like to start by sending good thoughts and energy out to two friends who have fathers that are not doing well right now.

I ran on Sunday the 4th (sorry, I've been busy this week) and managed to pull of a PR.  Not bad for not having run for over a month.  Talk about a taper.

Busy week

And not enough running.  Actually no running at all this week.  I do have a little 5K in Portland on Sunday, the Jingle Bell Run.  Last year is was colder than the dickens and this year it looks like it will be raining.  I'll take a nice "warm" rain over the 27 degrees we had last year ANY day.  I haven't really run any distance in a month, but knocking out three point one miles should be pretty easy. It is all good.  It is for a good cause too.  Arthritis research, we need to get rid of it before it becomes a problem for me...wait, that's not right.
