Thanksgiving reflections

This has been quite the year.  I will have to say that I am thankful for my wife, first and foremost.  Without her, very little of what I would be doing right now would be worth anything.  She has kept me sane and focused on the things that matter for the last 18 years of marriage, and for the last 20 years that I have known her.  There are many other things that I am thankful for, but she will always be first.

The ankle's fine!!

Congrats to those that ran this weekend.  If you met your goals, great!  If you did better than you thought you would, FANTASTIC!!  If you didn't do as well as you hoped, there will be other races, and other days.  Remember, when life throws a garbage can at you, take it out like you're a linebacker.

I went to the Y this morning and started the C25K VFF style.  This is in an attempt to shift my foot strike.  My barefooted running friend CatChowder1 cautioned about trying to push too far too fast, and I assured the young lady that I wouldn't.

Friday's non-running musings

So, I think from now on, I will post some musings about different sports on Fridays.  Just because it is my blog, and only three people read it anyways.  Hi TRF.

November just isn't my month****Updated

I have been fighting a cold all week. It is sitting right at the verge of being a real cold, or going away, and has been since Friday.  This got me thinking about last year at this time.  I had signed up for the Jingle Bell 5K and it was to be the finish race for my Couch to 5K program.  I ended up fighting a cold at the start of the month, then there are those pesky familial obligations at the end of the month, and I didn't get a run in at all the entire month.

I am actually OK with this year being a bad month for running, as I am basically resting the ankles right now anyway, but it sure is annoying.  I have been taking Airborne every few hours, and last night as I was opening a new bottle of Lemon-Lime, I got to wondering if an Airborne margarita would be any good.  I might have to find out since they don't seem to make the Nighttime product anymore.

*******UPDATED*********

I can now tell you, to make sure that you salt the rim on your Airborne Margarita.  It wasn't bad, but it wasn't that much different than just doing a large shooter...so maybe I should have had a lime and some salt standing by.  But, I think in about another hour I will take another and send myself to bed.  Isn't that the normal prescription, "Take two of these and call me in the morning?"

Cheers!

I need to run some...

I have been feeling pretty good, but lazy lately.  I think that it is time to break out the VFF's and start moving my foot strikes forward.  My heels are still tender when I walk a lot, but I feel the need for speed, or at least, early morning mists and fogs and seeing the sky turn gray.  I might go out tomorrow morning for a short run.  I know that I am "starting over" with these, and that there is likely to be some run/walking involved over the next few weeks, but I am OK with that.  Stay tuned loyal listener.

Oh, and TRF, good luck this weekend, I am sending SPEED vibes your way.

And now the REST of the Story. (Hat-tip to Paul Harvey)

So, when we last left our intrepid runner, he was just clearing mile 8 with a new running partner, and was heading up Terwilliger.  Lets pick it up from there...
